Okay, so something you should know about the other half and I is that we LOVE cheese. We easily get through 2 large blocks a week, slowly feeling our arteries getting clogged at the same time. And we love all cheese, from the classic Cheddar to the smelly Stilton, a smokey Applewood and a gooey Camembert. So to think that before our visit to Paxton and Whitfield on Jermyn Street we had never been to a shop solely dedicated to cheese quite amazed us. In fact, we hadn't even considered it to be honest with the selection you can get in a supermarket these days, but oh boy were we wrong to compare this cheese shop selection to a supermarkets. Paxton and Whitfield was simply in another league.
As we walked up outside the glorious smell hit us, drawing us inside. Here, we were greeted with a sea of yellows and whites. It was difficult to even know where to start the decision making, but the friendly staff were more than happy to help with suggestions, allowing us the test as many as requested. Unlike with a standard cheese sandwich for lunch where you are eating because you're hungry or bored, testing cheese in a place like Paxton and Whitfield you really get a chance to stop and taste the flavours. I have seriously never taste such amazing cheese in my life! I am no cheese expert but I couldn't believe the huge differences in the flavours between the varieties available in the store; but more unbelievable is how it has now made supermarket cheese taste so... so plain and standard in comparison! We're in no way rich enough to be able to buy our cheese's at Paxton and Whitfield every week, but if we could, we most definitely would! We ended up taking home 4 different varieties home with us on this visit, and have both now added Paxton and Whitfield vouchers to our Christmas lists (yes, we have started them already!)
So, the day wouldn't be complete with out me bugging the other half to take some outfit photos for me... To be honest, I'm not really too keen myself of taking photos in public, usually sticking to the back garden, but the pretty flowers matching my scarf colour seemed like the perfect spot! Burgundy is my favourite winter colour, not just for clothes but for make up too. So, as soon as the cold hit out came this scarf and lipstick! I kept the rest of the outfit pretty casual, with some comfy converse, denim and my new satchel backpack from Zara. Being able to switch up the handle from being a classic shoulder strap to a quirky backpack make it such a practical yet stylish piece; perfect for the bustling London commute, an evening out with friends, a job interview, and of course a day exploring the Big Smoke as we did! Be prepared to see this in many posts to come, including a soon to post What's In My Bag!
Do you have any recommended places to visit whilst exploring London? Having moved here in the last month, I am wanting to find alllll the best places to eat, drink, shop and see, so please do let me know in the comments!
